"I knew it!" "If he had only listened to me." "One of these days I'm gonna tell that music guy what's on my mind." Well, this is the time. Here's your opportunity to let me in on what you are thinking about the music portion of our worship services. I'd really like your input as we move into the spring.
Here's the only catch. You must sign your name in order for your comments to be taken seriously and you must not only offer ideas or changes, but, you must talk about how you arrived at your opinion. That's fair. I'll respond to them in my blog on February 13.
Talk about what we sing, the text, the styles, the instrumentation, the flow, the choir music, how we order the service, what blesses you, what distracts you, things that help you worship more authentically, what you wish we had more of, what you believe we could have less of.
OK, ready, set, blog. I'm away from Fri.-Wed. at a conference and won't read them till next week. So, take your time and pray over your thoughts. Click on "Comments" at the bottom of the page and share your heart. This could be the most exciting blog yet, but, you must participate for it to be so. Don't say, "I'll let other's do it." I really want to hear your heart.
Thanks in advance for your comments.
Worshiping Him, Loving You,
David

Well I guess I will be the first. I really have no complaints about the music program at Southside. I have been in several churches where the music program was just a routine (Amazing Grace every sunday). It was hard to worship knowing it was a routine and when all the tempo of all the songs were slowed down. I enjoy the mix at Southside and it is a great environment to worship. I have also been in churches where if you were not a certain person you wouldn't be asked to sing a special. That is not the case at Southside. I love how if you have a talent it will be used no matter who you are. Most importantly everyone keeps encouraging each other until we use our talents.
I would like to see Ensamble started back up.
The most distracting to me during the music is only being able to hear the music. It is hard to hear the chior and you sing. Also it is very distracting when the youth are talking during the whole worship experiene. I cant concentrate on what is being said.
i am very upset that practice has been changed to 6:30. Some people will not be able to make it because of work and I wont be able to come because I will be working with another group at that time. :(
It concerns me that choir rehersal is more important than participating in prayer meeting. I very much need this quiet time, alone with God, to help me make it through the remainder of the week. I like the praise chourses, but my favorite church music is the "old hymns". Thanks for the variety of music, all of which honors God. Would love to hear the handbells.
i would suggest a 5-10min devotion during choir practice each week. I feel this can be uplifting and be benificial.

We couldn't ask for a better Music ministry, then what you lead us in every Sunday and Wednesday. I'm pleased with the 6:30 time, and know other young families are too!
I really enjoy the mix of music during we have at Southside. Although I enjoy the more upbeat there is still something to be said about some of the classic hymns - - you try to offer both.
Brother David, your expression and passion when you direct the choir is such an encouragement to all - you are a spiritual leader and have helped us grow. Thank you for this. What would I like to see? More involvement of all ages - - not just during children's month or youth Sunday but throughout the year. Perhaps, through drama/ ensembles or praise teams (youth/adult/children), interp., etc.. We are blessed to have so much talent at Southside.
Thank you for all you do, Brother David.
Bro. David,
I love the mix, arrangements, and the incorporation of all the available instruments and voices. I also enjoy seeing the "young" folks becoming more involved in the leading of worship. Having served in a couple of churches as a worship leader, but limited in the "allowable " songs, and the reluctance of so many to any changes, it is very refreshing and worshipful(?) for me and allowing me to be a part of this team.
Thank You for all you do to lead us so wonderfully!!!
Gary C.
